Torsten Wefers entered the aviation world in 2000 at Dusseldorf International Airport (DUS) working in the marketing & strategy department. In 2003 he moved to Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN) being part of the passenger airline business development team.
When CGN airport founded in 2009 for the first time a cargo sales unit Mr. Wefers had been promoted leading the unit as Head of Cargo Sales. In this role he coordinated and managed all cargo sales/marketing activities. After setting up a new a CGN business unit and an internal interim management project he finally has been assigned in 2018 as Director Cargo taking over full responsibility for the cargo development of CGN. Based on a newly developed cargo (sales) strategy CGN’s annual cargo throughput increased to nearly 1 million tons in 2021.
During his CGN time Mr. Wefers has been also an active member of both the cargo advisory board of BDL (Federal Association of German Aviation Industry) and ADV (Airport Association Germany).
As of April 1st, Torsten works for Liege Airport as VP Sales & Marketing, responsible for global business development cargo, passengers, digitalization and in charge of the foundation of the LGG Cargo Community.
